Group Quality Manager Flexibles Packaging Job at TWVA Recruitment – Durban, KwaZulu-Natal

The position holder is the focal point for managing and driving all Quality and Quality Management related Systems-, Risk and Food Safety related matters within the respective cluster in strong liaison with the reporting-lines up (on cluster management and group level), and the accountable position-owners at the plant-level (VP Operations Cluster (HoP)/MD and Local Quality, BRC, QM Systems and Risk resource). Ensuring that quality has after safety the highest priority in our business an uninterrupted certification of our quality management and hygiene management systems, their permanent maintenance with excellent document management and further development. By supporting the Cluster Management in fulfilling the accountability to ensure all stakeholders´ interest with regard to all previously listed areas are met and our quality performance overall is constantly improving, the position-holder needs to manage internal requirements (e.g. Group standards) to be planned, implemented and monitored (beside local/legal requirements). Essential to this position is the opportunity to develop and drive synergies while accelerating standardization within the group. Dealing with all our in-and external customers in quality related topics.

Promoting CF´s Quality approach, Quality Systems and hygiene approach by transferring Group Quality and QM Systems requirements, Group Quality-programs, and initiatives to the plants or by developing specific initiatives in alignment with Group Quality guidelines in terms of Quality Systems and BRC, Group Quality and local Food safety related topic.
Maintaining a good partnership with the quality organization of our customers.
Facilitating of Quality improvement projects and FMEA workshops.
Developing and maintaining of QIP’s (Quality Improvement Programs).
Conducting quarterly quality awareness training sessions for Operators and assistance.
Participation in the creation plus facilitating the implementation of CF´s Group´s Quality and Risk Management, QM-System (Standards like the policy + annexures, procedures) and especially fostering the implementation at newly acquired CF-subsidiaries with local management.
Coordinating and providing validated data for internal reporting to Group Quality with regards to Quality KPI’s, Quality Management Systems and BRC and Group Risk.
Ensuring that all employees receive their regular mandatory training in QM and Hygiene. This also applies to new hires.
Managing of a proper preparation, participation and monitoring of results for/of all in and external QM and BRC audits, Customer audits, and other external quality related audits.
Ensure all regulatory affairs related to food safety. Close cooperation at group level and consistent compliance with existing and new legislation apply at this important field
Harmonization and standardization of processes where possible and feedback sound information and
documentation about the process and its KPIs to group in terms of Quality, QM systems, Risk and others if required.
Identifying training needs for BRC within the cluster – especially focused on cluster-/divisional leadership teams –
and consult group for training offers and –partners.
Ensure BRC Management as per STD requirements
Ensure the coordination of relevant BRC meetings & follow up on action items derived from meetings
Ensure that BRC documentation & records maintained
Ensure that BRC audits are conducted as per STD requirements
Ensure legal compliance within the food regulatory requirements
Ensure the coordination of HACCP Team Risk Analysis
Ensure the coordination of microbiological sampling within BRC areas

Criteria for Success:
Meet quality targets (Quality KPI’s – defect cost rate and claim rate), Audit-results and successful pass of QM systems audits (BRC and ISO) hygiene audits, SEDEX, customer audits, other in- and external quality related audits.
Consistent positive trend in Quality-related internal statistics (KPI’s) and sound analysis of plant-related needs (i.e. status of implementation of Group Standards beside compliance to legal/regulatory/other external requirements).
Coordinating and ensure submission of bi-annual Group business risk assessments.

University degree in process engineering, plastics technology, analysis and lab technology, packaging technology (plus experience as below) or comparable sound professional education (technician) within at least one of the fields above.

Comprehensive, verifiable further education in analysis methods of flexible packaging materials, paper and plastics

Understanding of the manufacturing processes in the flexible packaging industry.

Profound knowledge and understanding of lab analytics, statistical data and lab data evaluation.

Professional knowledge in reporting, presentation and communication skills.

Structured problem solving methods

QM systems training.

BRC Training.

Minimum 6 years of experience in a Senior Quality Management Leader role.

3-5 years’ experience in audit preparation (ISO, BRC, Customer, Authorities), participation and monitoring of results.

Visited and audited min. 2-3 other plants abroad.

Experience in tools and techniques to train and coach people.

Good Team player skills.

Used to report and present to Senior Management and Customers.
